We are huge fans of the Osmo for its amazing interactive fun and learning, it really is like nothing else! Such ingenious educational games and amazing quality.
We have been thrilled to try out the Pizza Co. Starter Kit, and I have to say it is brilliant! It is extremely addictive, I think I need to set up my own pizza shop on the app to play without the children!

The pack includes the Osmo base and mirror piece, you place your tablet in the special stand with the red mirror piece that sits on top over the camera-this is how it creates the magic!
The box also includes all the game pieces you need, a pizza base / plate for the change, a tray of pizza toppings and a tray of money-both notes and coins. The quality and ingenuity of Osmo is even reflected in the boxes for keeping all the pieces in, so well designed and everything fits perfectly!
You simply download the app and then it is added to your Osmo World app so you can access it alongside the other apps you may have access to.
In the game you are left in charge of a pizza restaurant- literally given the key to the door!
Your task is to run the restaurant, serving customers and making money to improve your restaurant.
Customers (and what fun customers they are!) come into your restaurant and a sign pops up to show someone would like a pizza so you can scroll across to see what they would like. The customer requests a certain type of pizza so you need to add the correct toppings to your pizza circle and swipe it into the oven.
Osmo can identify if you have correctly prepared the pizza, and in time too! So clever! You are then given a rating by the customer, happy, ok or not so happy!
Customers also sit in the pizza restaurant to eat their pizza and when they have finished a sign pops up to indicate the tray side of the pizza circle. You swipe across to them and the customer hands over a certain amount of money for the pizza, you then need to calculate the amount of change they need and put it on the tray. There is also a counter along the bottom to help work out the answer. By the magic of Osmo it will confirm if you have given the customer the correct change!
You can set different levels for the game so you can either just use the notes or then add in coins in tens and then smaller amounts. There is also a Junior version of the game on the app, we are not quite ready for this level!
As you progress through the levels the toppings become more complicated, they have to be in specific locations and also the customers and payments come thick and fast. Luckily one of the purchases you can make with your takings is a faster pizza oven!
Sometimes the children play as a team adding the toppings and then organising the change, another great skill working together for a greater result.
At the end of a day you get a summary of your takings, the amount spent on ingredients and deliveries and also tips earned. This is fantastic to show the children how the takings, costs and profits are calculated. Also the tips depend on how happy the customers are!
The takings can be spent on decorating your pizzeria and improving your oven. At first our children were keen on decorating before realising it was better to save for a new oven to then be able to make more money! There are so many great business lessons in this app.
The graphics are fantastic with brilliant characters, even special guest visitors! The sounds and music is so much fun too, just adding to the full Osmo game experience.
This app is absolutely brilliant and a game you want to just keep playing, it combines Maths and learning about business, into a clever and fun game so that it really doesn’t feel like learning!
