The Cottages

Treworgey have 17 traditional and stylish cottages nestled around the farm to choose from, with cottages ranging from 1 to 6 bedrooms. Each cottage has its own parking space and garden so they are nice and private too.

The Treworgey Cottages

We stayed in the gorgeous Laurel Cottage which has two bedrooms, a bathroom and downstairs shower room and as with all the cottages – its own private garden. The cottage is full of character and history and feels so welcoming, so many beautiful details, it was really warm and comfortable, and definitely felt like “home”.

When we arrived we were greeted by the most wonderful welcome tray – full of local foods and drink (shortbreads, tea, fresh juice, wine and handmade cakes-what a welcome!)

In every room there are fresh seasonal flowers, we really appreciate the time it takes to pick and organise the flowers for each room, what a lovely luxury and personal welcome.

There are so many eco considerations in the cottage too, including the heating that runs on Treworgey’s own crop of miscanthus which can be seen in the fields near the farm. All the cleaning items in the cottage are eco too (washing up, bathroom cleaning). There are composting bins in the cottage and bins for recycling too. Treworgey also has solar panels for the cottages’ electricity supply and a wind turbine, they really are a sustainable and forward thinking farm!

The cottage feels lovely and warm and cosy, a nice comfortable welcome after a day out playing on the farm or exploring Cornwall. I can imagine how cosy the cottages must be on cold Wintery days and I bet it is wonderful to stay over Christmas too (there were lovely comments in the visitors book from Christmas guests).

The cottage has an open fire, it is so nice to sit by and enjoy the warmth from a log fire, especially after a day of April showers! The cottage includes firelighters, matches and sticks, plenty enough for a full week of log fires! Where the cars are parked for Laurel Cottage there is also a log store you are welcome to help yourself to logs from which is very generous!

The cottage has games and puzzles that are ideal for families to enjoy fun times together. We really enjoyed Cluedo, chess and the jigsaws!

Technology wise there is a smart tv, Bluetooth speaker and radio. There is free wifi in the cottages too and great signal. You can also borrow dvds from the massive dvd library in the information room to enjoy by the fire with some of the local Cornish Orchards cider….

The kitchen is fully equipped, there is even a Nespresso coffee machine and milk frother. Treworgey supply some of the veeery nice coffee pods and there are more available in the Info Room. The Mr particularly enjoyed the milk frother for his coffee!

There is a dishwasher-yay, washing machine for all the rolling around at the farm and beach, microwave, toaster….everything is well maintained and just like new. This kitchen is a lovely area to cook on your holidays, especially a cooked breakfast with the farm’s eggs!

We made use of the Laurel Cottage spice rack for dinner one night, and if you don’t fancy cooking yourself you can order from the Treworgey Coombs Kitchen. The meals sound amazing with the likes of Pork and Cider Hot Pot and Victoria Sandwich filled with homemade raspberry jam. You can also order hampers and breakfast boxes to enjoy during your stay, one of the delights of a holiday is tasty food! See Treworgey Food below.

The bathroom is fantastic with a huge roll top bath and large shower, ideal for family bathing! It makes bathtime so much more enjoyable with all the space for the family at bedtime. There is soap, body wash and moisturiser all provided which smell lovely! There is plenty of space to dry towels and swimming costumes from the pool and spa area on the towel radiators in the two bathrooms too. As well as the main bathroom there is a downstairs shower room with toilet that is very handy when you get back from the beach!

The bedrooms are sooo comfortable! There is nothing nicer than snuggling under crisp white sheets, and the Treworgey bedding is lovely and crisp! The beds are extremely comfortable and warm, giving you great nights sleep on your holiday! Another example of the attention to detail and everything at Treworgey that is just right.

The children absolutely loved their twin room and playing and colouring together in their own room!

Each cottage has its own garden area with seating (they even provide comfy cushions!) and space to feed the birds too. We had a lovely view down across the fields to watch the sheep and lambs. From the bottom of our garden you climb the stile straight onto one of the farm walks!

Treworgey think of everything, there is even a washing line for your washing! There are also other items such an iron and ironing board, vacuum cleaner- to clean up any beach sand! At the top and bottom of our stairs were fitted stair gates which is great piece of mind for little ones and when in a different home.

Treworgey Facilities

The facilities at Treworgey are outstanding, immaculate and exactly what you need for a memorable family holiday, you might not want to leave the farm during your stay as there is so much to do!

The Information Room

This is way more than an information room! This is a very comfy place to hang out, it even has a wood burning stove for the cold days, and is bursting with info and ideas!

There are loads of leaflets of places to visit and ideas for days out, and then there is the info that Treworgey have put together themselves with their favourite places, walks, meals out and ideas. The folders are bursting with ideas and must have taken time and love to put together!

The information room also has a soft play area!! Perfect for the kids when you are looking through all the information and enjoying a coffee from the nespresso coffee machine (and how good is a milk frother?!) There is a kitchen area for making hot drinks while you relax on the sofa and plan your holiday at Treworgey. They even have a weekly timetable and the latest weather forecast!

Treworgey has thoughtfully provided loads of details for the whole family, not sure for the children but for the grown ups to be able to relax and enjoy their break too!

Treworgey Cottages for Children

There is a Local Produce stall with essentials you might need during your stay and some local treats too! From ice creams to local apple juice (this is absolutely gorgeous!), you can even buy bird food – every cottage has its own garden with place to feed the birds!

There is even more in the information room! – there are trail sheets for the hunts and walks around the farm, with sheets for younger and older children! There are items you can borrow such as body boards and crabbing gear- the kids were desperate to do some crabbing which we really enjoyed at Looe and managed to catch loads of pretty big crabs

The info room also has a huge DVD library with films for all ages!

You can even borrow a telescope to do some star gazing from the tranquility of your own cottage.

On a wet day this is a great room to chill together and make plans for your holiday!

The Play Room

The play room is absolutely bursting with activities to play with under the gaze of the stunning hand painted Looe mural!

There is a pool table and table tennis table we really enjoyed – the little guy has quick hands at table tennis ha ha!

There is a huge wooden train set, I enjoyed playing with this as much as the kids! There are even crafts tucked underneath to get creative with.

The playhouse is full of all the things you need to play home with a well stocked play kitchen, even Bluey had made it her home!

There are books to read and share, a big chess set, an easel, Lego, car mats, ride ons, everything that you can think of for children (and big kids!) to enjoy playing with!

Outside there is a shed full of tractors to ride on and a mud table for digging and making mud pies. There really is so much for children to enjoy playing with at Treworgey Cottages, which makes us grown ups happy too!

The Vegetable Garden

Next to the information room is the community vegetable garden where you can pick some veg for your cottage in return for some tidying and veg care. We love growing our own and this is such a great idea for everyone to be able to join in and have the freshest food, from Treworgey garden to cottage plate.

Indoor Beach

The indoor beach area is huge!!

The kids love playing in sand and this room has loads to do, especially on wet weather days when it might not be the best weather for the coastal beaches!

There is a large wooden climbing frame with slide and where you can pull sand up to to send down the chutes.

There’s a climbing wall, sand digger, buckets & pulleys (the kids love these!) and huge building bricks.

There’s a badminton court and of course plenty of buckets and spades for fun in the sand!

The Pool and Spa

This is such a real treat to have a pool and spa area to enjoy on your holiday! The outdoor pool is a great size and is heated -wow how nice is that! Such a lovely way to have some family time at Treworgey, the kids would absolutely love it in there! The pool wasn’t open yet as we went during the Easter holidays, weather depending it can open from mid May.

There is a very smart pool room at the pool and spa with changing room, toilet, shower, honesty fridge, seating area for relaxing and even a sauna! The spa is outside on the hillside and has amazing views over the hills towards Looe. Even with two children in the spa with you, it is still extremely relaxing! The spa is always warm, no waiting for it to warm up, remove the cover and just slide in!

There is also a beauty room at Treworgey where you can book treatments for some extra holiday relaxation!

You can book hourly slots so the spa is all yours, you can book from 9am to 10pm, what a real luxury to enjoy on your holiday! There are even boxes by the spa to put your towels in-everything at Treworgey has been thought about which makes it such a really wonderful place to stay.

Outdoor Play Area

This is an amazing play area with swings, slides, playhouse and our favourite the water pump and pipes and the sand pulleys!

The kids could seriously play here all day, digging, getting wet, climbing and swinging.

This is such a well thought out area for children to play in. Even the large basket swing is fenced off to make sure it is safe for other children playing.

Horse Riding

Treworgey has a licensed riding school just for their guests. You can have riding lessons or go hacking through the country lanes around Treworgey. There is an outdoor all-weather arena for the lessons and all are welcome from beginners to the more experienced who want training in dressage and show jumping. You can even bring your pony or horse to Treworgey for your stay!

The Tennis Court

Treworgey has its own tennis court which you can book with their easy on line booking system. There are rackets and balls in the information room to borrow too.

Food at Treworgey

If you don’t fancy cooking on your holiday you can order home cooked meals from Coombe Kitchen, made from the best quality ingredients and local where possible!

Friday is afternoon tea and cake day! This is my sort of day- freshly made cakes, cream teas and teatime treats can be delivered to your cottage on Fridays each week! What a treat!

You can also order hampers and local breakfast boxes to enjoy on your holiday, because nice food on holiday is one of the treats!

Treworgey Activities

The activities at Treworgey are wonderful experiences especially for children, to enjoy nature, run wild, to play and explore the stunning 150 acre farm-perfect!

Animal Feeding

On week days at 9am you can help feed the animals, the children loved this, especially the goats who are great characters! We loved to hear the stories about all the animals and their characters.

The ladies helping with the animals are really lovely with the kids and answer all the questions. There are goats, pigs, ducks, chickens with eggs to collect.

Inside there are guinea pigs and rabbits who you can cuddle, and like us you might not want to give back!

Animal Antics

On Tuesday at 9am there is animal antics where you get to be hands on with animals, it might be cleaning out, washing, we got to brush the goats! The kids were very pleased to have gained the Treworgey Animal Keeper badge!

Holiday Club

Every week in the school holidays Treworgey run three great clubs for children – Pony Clubs, Forest School and Trotting Tots Club.

A great selection of extra activities to enjoy on your holiday! Click the link below for all the details.

Easter Egg Hunt

We were extremely lucky to visit over Easter and able to take part in the Easter egg hunt! The children loved chasing round the farm with the other children following clues to find chocolate eggs! What a lovely idea for Treworgey to do for the kids. I believe they do other themed trails throughout the year too such as a Halloween.

Farm Trails

There are various trails to explore around the farm grounds found on the gorgeous Treworgey Farm Trail Map. The trails are all signposted with coloured arrows so are really easy to follow!

The trails are differing lengths and routes and you can see more of the farm animals and the stunning views along the valley and on to Looe. We really enjoyed the trails and seeing more of the farm and local surroundings.

On the trails around the farm you can also do the Farm Hunt Sheet to spot the characters on your way round, the kids enjoyed trying to find the characters hiding around the farm!

Everything is geared up for families and letting them get outside and explore nature and the area around the farm.

Treworgey is a luxury holiday cottage destination, not just thoughtfully prepared cottages but there is a real family feel, the Treworgey team are wonderful! Then there’s all the activities and facilities that really make your holiday special, everything has been thought of so you don’t have to. I can say Treworgey is a truly wonderful place to have fun and make special family memories in a really stunning setting in the Cornish countryside.

Places to Visit

This is such a beautiful area of Cornwall if you do decide to leave the lovely surroundings of Treworgey and all its activities, there is plenty to see and do! This is just a small list of some of the things we have really enjoyed. without travelling far!

-We walked from Treworgey down to Sandplace and got the little train into Looe. We drove back as I had left the car earlier and run back to Treworgey.

-Crabbing at East Looe (borrow crabbing nets from Treworgey and save some raw bacon from your breakfast as it’s the best bait!!)

-Catch the boat across from East to West Looe (£1 each) and visit the Sardine Factory.

-Park in the NT car park on the road to Polruan then walk to the SW coast path and head to Polruan-gorgeous views! At Polruan catch the foot ferry to Fowey for a bite to eat. Return the same way and stop at Lantic bay beach.

-Polkerris beach is one of our faves, great views and not too big, with the added bonus of a pub and Restaurant (Sam’s) on the beach.

-Walk from Looe over the West Looe downs to Hendersick Farm then head down to Hore Stone on the coastal path. Walk back along the coast park Looe with beautiful views and along Hannafore front. We saw a seal just off the rocks while collecting shells in front of Looe Island!

-Eden project, we have been a couple of times but there always seems something new to see. It can get busy on wet days but it is not all under cover! For a quieter gardens we really like The Lost Gardens of Heligan.
