There’s a subtle Thirsk Hall sign that leads you down a small grassy track, leave your car behind you and walk past friendly sheep, swaying meadow grasses and fluttering butterflies to come to a huge wooden gate in an old brick wall……

With no idea what’s hidden behind… open the gate to reveal a stunning secret garden….. and nestled amongst the waving grasses are the beautiful bell tents.

What a setting, your own private garden hidden away behind the old brick wall, a secret garden that no one knows is there, a garden where the children can run wild through the grasses, you can enjoy a quiet seat and watch the sun setting, toast marshmallows over a log fire…..

This is camping with more than a hint of luxury. The comfiest beds, the snuggliest duvets, smart cushions and throws, soft carpets, fairy lights, with electric and space to play and relax…..

There’s a welcoming basket with coffee and Yorkshire Tea and mugs, bowls, plates and cutlery. With your own kettle to make a cup of tea to enjoy while watching the grasses whispering in the wind.

Hiding in the garden grasses is an area with table and benches for outdoor dining, each bell tent has their own area nestled opposite their bell tent, not even visible amongst the garden meadow. Each also has a fire pit to light up your evening and keep warm while watching the beautiful sunset.

Cars aren’t able to go down into the walled garden so grab yourself a wheelbarrow and have fun wheeling your bags, and children, down to the secret garden behind the wall.

When we go camping I admit we tend to choose campsites based on the showers and toilets, and these are definitely glamping facilities – not your standard campsite facilities.

They wouldn’t be out of place in your own home. They are smart and stylish, huge bowl sinks in the shower rooms, instant hot water, towel radiators and hairdryer. A shower that you can actually enjoy after a long day in the outdoors.

There is a washing up sink and drinking water point, there is also a a safe area in which to have bbqs away from the bell tents.

There are five Bell tents each with a double and two single beds. Two tents are also suitable for those wishing to bring dogs too.

A lovely touch is the luxury tents are named after herbs which are lovingly planted in pots outside each door, we went along past each of the bell tents and smelled every herb!

As well as the stunning site itself one of the wonderful advantages of this Glamping Site is it’s location. You would never know hidden away in your bell tent, but the site is in the middle of Thirsk. A wonderful market town full of places to eat and explore and all within walking distance of the glamping site. It makes such a difference being able to walk somewhere so you can leave your car behind.

Other practical stuff that might be helpful
-we brought our camping fridge as it can be plugged in in the tent
-don’t forget washing up liquid, cloth, towel
-make sure you visit the stunning Thirsk Hall sculpture garden which can be accessed from a corner of the glamping site. The sculptures are very impressive and the gardens are beautiful.
-there are loads of wonderful independent shops in Thirsk to support and if you need it there is also a Tesco and Lidl just around the corner.

We have never been glamping before this trip and what a luxurious, stunning site at Thirsk Hall. Not having to put up and take down the tent, spacious inside for all the family, cosy and comfortable and even beds to sleep in!

The facilities are very smart and such a welcome sight after a busy day. The location is ideal for exploring Yorkshire and the site is in a wonderful location within walking distance of Thirsk.
